Home Furnishings Retailer
Nationwide Tritium Sign Removal & Replacement

CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Proper, environmentally smart removal of tritium EXIT signs. As all tritium EXITsigns must be registered with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the retailer was looking to eliminate the costs of managing the signs.
VALUE DELIVERED
Client peace of mind. Disposal costs are high for these signs – damaged or broken signs can cause minor, localized radioactive contamination requiring potentially expensive clean-up. In accordance with NRC regulations, USM performed the proper removal of tritium EXIT signs in an environmentally safe manner.
We replaced the signs with state-of-the-art LED signs, which meant lower energy and installation costs, and less environmental impact, than the client’s previous fluorescent counterparts. Bonus savings: LED signs do not need to be registered, or accounted for, by a third party.
SOLUTIONS
USM partnered with an environmental services company to ensure that the proper NRC guidelines for tritium EXIT sign removal were followed. USM removed the unwanted signs and replaced them with state-of-the-art LED signs. The environmental services company maintained custody of the signs throughout the disposal process, ensuring that the signs were accounted for and disposed of properly – mitigating the retailer’s liability and safety risks.
